Refrigerator Repair at Home

Home repair for single door, double door and frost-free refrigerators – not cooling, freezer icing, water leakage, noise and door seal problems.

Technician inspecting an open refrigerator in a kitchen

A refrigerator that stops cooling properly is not always a compressor or gas problem. In frost-free fridges, a failed defrost heater, timer or sensor lets ice block the air duct, so the freezer works but the lower compartment warms up.

In direct-cool (single door) fridges, a weak thermostat, a failed relay or a worn door gasket are common causes. The technician tests these parts first and confirms gas pressure only when the simpler causes are ruled out.

Refrigerator problems we repair

Fridge not cooling, freezer fine

Typical of frost-free models with a defrost fault or a stopped fan. The defrost heater, sensor and timer are tested.

Not cooling at all

Compressor relay, overload protector, thermostat or a gas leak. The compressor is checked before any major part is suggested.

Ice building up in the freezer

Defrost system failure in frost-free fridges, or a door that does not seal properly.

Water on the floor or inside

A blocked defrost drain or a damaged drain tray. Usually a quick clean-out.

Loud noise or clicking

Fan motor bearings, a loose condenser fan or the compressor relay repeatedly trying to start.

Door not closing tightly

Worn or loose door gasket, or the fridge not standing level.

Simple care tips

  • • Keep 10–15 cm of space behind and beside the fridge for heat to escape.
  • • Do not overload the freezer; blocked vents stop cold air reaching the lower section.
  • • Check the door seal by closing it on a sheet of paper – it should hold firmly.
  • • Clean the condenser coil at the back every few months.

How the visit works

The technician inspects the refrigerator, explains the fault in plain language and quotes the cost before starting. Repair or part replacement is done only after you approve, and the appliance is tested before the technician leaves.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my fridge freezer cold but the bottom warm?

In frost-free refrigerators this usually means the defrost system has failed and ice is blocking the air duct. It is repairable.

Is fridge gas refilling always needed?

No. Gas is needed only if there is a leak. Many cooling problems are caused by relays, thermostats or defrost parts.

Do you repair inverter and frost-free fridges?

Yes, we repair direct-cool, frost-free and inverter refrigerators of common brands.
